About Doombad Books
torn

These seven full colour books available here in paperback were first created as hand-made hard bound limited editions, between 1999 and 2007. They range in length from 28 pages to 234 pages, and were created in the following order:

1. Some People Don't Know Who They Are
2. An Early History of Doombad
3. Doom and Gloom
4. Doombad's Book of Rhymes
5. The Art of Doombad
6. Tree-he
7. Doombad in the Light of Day

The images: Doombad's Book of Rhymes is produced with ink and coloured ink drawings and with vivid textured watercolours created on computer. Tree-he is real watercolour painting. The other five books are painted in oils, the style of which moves from a rich figurative rendering in the earlier works to an almost abstract, precise yet reckless and sometimes heart-renderingly fragile use of brushstrokes to bring to life the inner movements of the characters and drama. These are not illustrated books. They are fully painted brilliant stories in which the text is as pertinent, and exacting as the images.
